Different Things

August 9th, 2006 · 4 Comments

Really busy these days, but four quick things:

1. Why is a government official drawing on a pregnant woman’s (not his wife) stomach?

2. Don’t cha wish Malaysia’s government weren’t such big prudes? See, I don’t care…

3. This sign is just so wrong.

4. This ad (by the Mainland Affairs Council) is a also stand out. Let’s forget about the unintentional gay tone, the cruising, the knowing look the two handsome men give eachother before they split, their secret high-fives, and double entendres (”Can you feel it coming on?”, “Laying no preconditions” )–check out the tree obvously being lowered in the beginning. I haven’t seen rain effects that good since the diner scene in Friday the 13th. (Tks, Wandering and Rank)

I would rather see two yellow taxi
    drivers than those two BMWs.

I wish they had used that nice guitar music soundtrack to convey more of a “Brokeback Tree” feeling.

She told Oprah Winfrey that when she was born, her mother named her “Flicka”, but had to change it because it wasn’t a Christian name. She still uses “Flicka” as a nickname. The name “Flicka” comes from the book and movie My Friend Flicka (1943), a childhood favorite. It means “girl” in Swedish.

Proabably more desperate than our Flicka…

    Guess which celeb?
