Bad Words

“ASS”, “BRA”, “BAD”, “BJ”, “BS”, “BUM”, “DOG”, “DIE”, “PIG”, “G8″, “GAY”, and “LP”. What do those words have in common? They are all naughty words that a Taipei councilman is trying to get the Transportation Ministry to ban on license plates. They forgot about “FAG”, “NUT” and “ICK”.

They forgot FUK, SUK, and TIT

Why are CAT, PIG, and DOG so bad?

It would be interesting to know which words are actually not used in English speaking countries. I am sure FUK would be one of them, but I can’t see what the big deal is about most of the words.

3. DIE PIG DOA - August 24, 2006

Why don’t these jackasses focus on Chinese cuss words?

4. Karl - August 25, 2006

“CAO” “GAN” “JI8″ “8PO”

WTF with the guy carrying a license plate saying “EGG 008″? I get the feeling sometimes that Taiwanese government officials don’t make a lot of sense sometimes.

The guys stuck holding the “DOG” and “CAT” license plates look like morons. The Taiwan government could make a lot of money selling custom plates to dog and cat fanciers.

Where’s Taiweiner when you need him to set the facts straight?

The embarrassing thing is that the list of “bad words” appears to have been created by people with little or no actual knowledge of English, and I bet that nearly all these license plates are fake given that they have an uncommon number of sequential numbers: “543″, “321″, “456″, “123″ etc.

Someday when I am in charge of the Dept. of Motor Vehicles in Wisconsin, I will definitely ban all the Chinese, Russian and African-bushman swear words. In fact, I will take steps to ensure that only a limited number of consonants are available to be used.
