The Taipei Kid

Rants/raves + false childhood memories

For your eyes only

I keep seeing these ads for the “Tokyo Lash Bar” all over town. What the hell is a Tokyo Lash Bar? I found out soon enough while wandering around, trying to find a birthday present for my friend R. I wanted to get her something unique, and I think I succeeded.

The Tokyo Lash Bar is a false eyelashes counter, part of the Shu Uemura brand. They had tons of different lashes. I am not really sure if a set of eyelashes is considered a single shot or double at the Tokyo Lash Bar. You have to keep in mind this was the first time I’ve ever purchased false eyelashes, or let alone eyelash glue (I guess that’s considered a chaser at the lash bar). I’ll probably be back, though, since they’ve got this radiant yellow pair that would be perfect to wear to chamber of commerce luncheons. The saleslady was really professional, but appeared to be slightly jarred by waiting on a foreign male customer. Maybe she thought I was an off-duty drag queen or something.

That place is FANTASTIC, if over-priced! And anyone who thinks there’s such a thing as an “off-duty drag queen” has NO worries about ever being mistaken for one! ;)
