We used to think we would never be able to afford designer clothes, but that was until we spotted this Pierre Cardin scooter raincoat. Sure, at NT$35 (US$1.08) it did cost a bit more than the ordinary, convenience store type raincoats manufactured for the plebian crowd, but style isn’t cheap, folks.
1. Wow it has changed a lot.
2. It is nice being able to speak Chinese around town and do things without having to go through the whole “Wow, you’re Chinese is really good, how long have you been in Taiwan?” ritual eight times a day.
3. The touts in the tourist areas are really annoying–near [...]
Oh, no, the shame and horror of Jamaican flags being made in Taiwan. I wonder how Taipei’s only Jamaican restaurant feels about that.
Please, can anyone tell me how Taiwan is able to print our flags in their country? Do they know the meaning of the black, green and gold?
I sort of have my life back now, kind of, sort of, now that school is behind me. I’ll be checking into a luxury hotel this weekend to swim and regroup. Camping doesn’t do it for me. I am not too sure about its other restaurants, but the coffee shop at the Regent really seems to be sliding. Noisy, crowded, uncomfortable atmosphere; terrible food, including salad that’s obviously been sitting out for hours. This is a Four Season’s property?
Do you hate the long immigration lines at Peach Orchard International Airport? Well, don’t complain about it or you could be kicked out of Taiwan for five years–even if you are married to a Taiwanese.
I just have to shake my head in disbelief at this article about an American woman living in Hualien being fined NTD 6,000 (about US$181) for telling someone to frig off. See Rank’s breakdown about this–and “Don’t think that Taiwanese judges don’t understand English”!
I love this bit:
The accompanying story explains that the defendant had had [...]
